FREE AGENTS DIALOG
The Free Agents Dialog
allows you to view and try to draft available free agents.
Free Agents are players
who for whatever reason have been released from their contracts
with other teams, or have completed contracts and are looking for
new contracts with the first team willing to meet their salary demands.
To bring a free agent
into your team, you have to agree to a contract with the player
and his agent. Free agents that are not signed for a period of time
will tend to lower their contract demands. So, check back with players
you are interested in. To your surprise, some players might hold
out for most of the football season, continuing to demand high salaries.
In all likelihood, these players have probably found other jobs
(in other hypothetical leagues in the Football Mogul universe) but
are still willing to go to work for any team that meets his salary
demands.
To try to sign one, hit
the Bid button. This brings up the Contract
Offer dialog. If you agree to the terms set forth by the player
(and his agent), you can sign the player. He will be added to your
group of bench players. Use the Offense,
Defense or Special
Teams dialogs to move this player onto your major league roster.
As your own players'
contracts expire, if you fail to reach an agreement to re-sign the
players, they will be released to the free agent pool. The
free agent pool can only hold 80 players. The computer will automatically
knock the least valuable players off the bottom of the list to make
room for more valuable free agents, or to ensure that the free agent
list represents all positions equally.
