GAME MENU

The Game Menu gives you access to the following features:

Save Game Dialog
This Save Game Dialog lets you save your current game to your hard drive. Type in the filename you would like to use (or use the one suggested to you) and click 'Save'. This creates a file in the top level directory for Baseball Mogul (the same place where the executable, e.g. BB2K12.EXE, is located). Saved games require between 1M and 6M each, depending on how long you've played.

There are 3 formats for saving game files:

1) "Compressed". The default format. This takes up the least space on your hard drive, but is impossible to edit with an application other than Baseball Mogul.

2) "Uncompressed". Requires more hard drive space, but will save more quickly on some computers. Theoretically, someone could use a hex editor to read data hidden in an uncompressed saved game file.

3) "Text". Saves the entire baseball universe as a set of ".csv" files. This format allows people to view (and edit) all variables that constitute the Baseball Mogul saved game.

Resume Game Dialog
The Resume Game Dialog gives access to all game files you have previously saved. It displays all the saved games you have to choose from, and by double-clicking on one of the names, you'll restart that game. Or, you can highlight the file name it and click 'Resume'. There is also an option to delete a saved game to free up space on your hard drive. Highlight the game you want to delete, and hit the delete button on the right side of the dialog.

Mogul Hall Of Fame
This screen shows the best Baseball Moguls of all time: from 1900 through the 21st century teams that you manage. If you score high enough, you can be listed here.

  • Name: The name of the General Manager (or Manager) that controlled the team during this time.
  • Team: The name of the team.
  • Years: The consecutive range of time over which the Mogul Rating was earned.
  • Difficulty: The difficulty level of the game where the Rating was achieved.

When you've gotten your Mogul Rating high enough to place you in the Mogul Hall of Fame, you can Retire yourself using the Retire Mogul feature in the Game Menu. If your score isn't high enough to place you, the system will let you know. You can then choose to continue improving your score, or retire anyway.

Retire Mogul
Retire Mogul ends your game and, if your score is high enough, records your Mogul Rating in the Mogul Hall Of Fame (for your difficulty level). The game will let you know if retiring with your current mogul score will place you in the Mogul Hall of Fame, and if it's too low, you can return to your game and continue to work on it.

You can view your Mogul Rating on the Financial Pages. Simply click one of the column headers and select 'Mogul Rating'. You can also view the Mogul Ratings of other computer managers. Click here for a description of how the Mogul Rating is calculated.
