CHANGE POSITION DIALOG
The Change Position Dialog lets you change the position of a player on
your team. To change a player's position to
the new one shown, click the Change Position button.
This change has no permanent effects on the player's ratings. However, it does accomplish two things:
-
Changes how the 'Sort' buttons work in the Lineup Dialog. The computer uses each player's assigned position when sorting rosters and building lineups.
-
Changes the playing time this player gets in the minors. This player will accrue defensive playing time at the position specified.
A young player moved to a position for which he is well-suited will improve his rating at that position by about
10 points over the course of an entire season.
Playing time will lead to diminishing returns in terms of skill improvement as the player
approaches his maximum effectiveness at that position.
To access the Change Position Dialog,

Changing a Pitcher's "Position"
Pitchers are treated differently that position players in terms of "changing" their position. If you want to turn a major league starting pitcher into a reliever, put him in the bullpen in a closer or short relief role. As the player pitches more in his new role, his Endurance Rating will adjust to match his usage. You can do the same thing in reverse to convert relievers into starters.
To change how a minor league pitcher is used, use the Change Pitcher Usage Dialog.
