OUTPUT STATS

The Output Stats command is located under the Tools Menu. This feature lets you write a variety of data in one of several formats to files on your hard drive (in your Baseball Mogul install directory).

Note: Baseball Mogul does not support sending data directly to your printer. To print data, you will need to first output the data to a file and then print the file using another application (such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word).

1. Pick a team to output, or choose an entire league, or "All Active Players".

2. Select the category of stats to output (e.g. "This Season", "Last Season", "Projected", "Career"). In Commissioner Mode, you can also output "Predicted" stats.

3. Select the type of stats to output ("Batting", "Pitching", "Defense" or "Vital Stats"). If you select "Vital Stats", the category (e.g. "This Season") will be ignored (because "Vital Stats" are always the same for any player, regardless of which season is being output).

By default, the stats shown will be similar to an encyclopedia entry, with calculated values for stats like Batting Average. For raw data in the format found in the 'Database' folder (also the format used by the Baseball Databank and Sean Lahman), choose the stat type labeled "Database Format". This will change the column order to match the format used in the Sean Lahman Baseball Database.

Vital Stats output player information (like age and team), but no baseball statistics. Therefore, the Stat Category dropdown box is disabled.

When you print out a set of stats, you can choose from four formats:

Tab Delimited .xls Perfect for reading with Microsoft® Excel Spreadsheet program
Comma Delimited .csv Friendly to most spreadsheet programs
Text .txt Good for Word Processors or standard ASCII editors
HTML .html Great for your Web Browser, and for posting to the Web

Baseball Mogul sends the information to a file on your computer. This file will be saved in the Output directory of your Baseball Mogul installation. To open the folder where Baseball Mogul is installed, choose 'Open Game Folder' from the Help Menu.

To simply create a file that will be saved in the Output directory, without viewing or printing it at this time, don't select either 'View File Now'.

To open up your default program to view the file format you've selected, and immediately view the output, check 'View File Now'.

To print a file, open it in another application such as Microsoft Excel.
