ADVANCED
TOOLS
The Advanced Tools dialog
is found on the Baseball Mogul Tools
Menu.
The top three buttons are
used to export and import 'Team Files' that can be used
to help a league commissioner run a multiplayer
online league, by removing the need to enter team
lineups and other changes by hand:
Export
Team Settings and Pending Transactions
Exports a ".team" file for
the currently selected team. The filename will match the
3-letter abbreviation for the current team (e.g.
"nyy.team"). This
file contains the rosters, lineups, pitching rotation,
bullpen configuration and other information (such as
team strategies and financial settings). It also stores
any pending transactions (free agent bids or trade
offers).
Import Team Settings
Imports all ".team" files
in the Baseball Mogul folder that match the 3-letter
abbreviations in the currently loaded universe (e.g.
atl.team, bal.team, bos.team). When importing team
settings, Baseball Mogul will implement all of the
following changes registered in each ".team" file:
1) Lineups, defensive
alignments, starting rotation and bullpen.
2)Financial
settings (e.g. ticket prices and scouting staff
expenditure).
3)Minor league
assignments for each player.
In conjunction
with the "Export Team Settings" feature (above), this
can be used to help a league commissioner run a multiplayer
online league, by removing the need to enter team
lineups and other changes by hand.
Import Team Transactions
Imports all ".team" files
in the Baseball Mogul folder that match the 3-letter
abbreviations in the currently loaded universe (e.g.
atl.team, bal.team, bos.team). When importing team
transactions, Baseball Mogul does the following:
1) Load and compare all
bids for each free agent, and sign the player to the
team with the best offer.
2) Load and compare all
pending trade offers, and perform any trades between two
teams where both teams submitted the exact same
trade offer.
Clear Injuries
This button immediately
heals all injuries to all players in the database. This
can be useful for league play, or for building a
database from an existing database that contains injured
players (e.g. creating an updated database by altering
the default database).
If you wish to assign
injuries to many players within your database, you can
use the Import
Stats
feature, and specify that you are importing 'Injured
Days'.
Clear Retired Players
Deletes all retired players
from the database. This cannot be undone. We strongly
recommend saving a backup copy of your saved game before
performing this action.
Clear
Season Transactions
Erases all Transaction Data
for the current season.
Clear
All Transactions
Erases all Transaction Data
from the current game, including historical transactions
(that is, those awards and any other transactions
accrued by players BEFORE the start of the game).
Clear All Player Stats
Erases all player stats,
including the cumulative 'category' stats for all
players: 'This Season', 'Last Season', 'Career', 'AAA',
'AA', etc.
Clear
Year-By-Year Stats
Erases all 'Year-By-Year'
stat lines for every player (these are the rows of stats
in the Scouting Report).
Career totals are unaffected.
Clear
Non-MLB YBY Stats
Erases all 'Year-By-Year'
stats that were not accumulated at the major league
level.
Recalculate Career
Totals
Updates career totals for
all players by clearing any existing totals and adding
up all the Year-By-Year stats shown in the Scouting
Report.
Regenerate Schedule
Forces Baseball Mogul to
generate a new game schedule for the current season.
This button cannnot be used after one or more games have
been played. This can be used repeatedly until you find
a suitable schedule.
Recalculate Salaries
This gives every player in
the database a new salary figure based on what they
would be awarded in contract negotiations if their
contract expired immediately. This is useful if you wish
to create a database of new players and let the computer
assign an appropriate salary value to each player.
Warning:
Calculate Salaries will erase all current salary
data and cannot be undone. |
Recalculate Endurance
Ratings
Recalculated the
'Endurance' rating for every pitcher, according to the
year-by-year and career statistics that this player has
accumulated to date. This algorithm gives more weight to
recent performance, so that a starting pitcher who
became a closer will not be turned back into a starting
pitcher.
The main purpose of this
button is to fix corrupted a saved game with corrupted
'Endurance' ratings.
Recalculate Player
Ratings
Recalculates all player
ratings for every player, according to the
year-by-year and career statistics that this player has
accumulated to date.
Auto-Sort Teams
Use the computer's
artificial intelligence to sort the rosters, lineups and
bullpens of all teams in the database. This can be
useful for assessing player quality, or just for
examining the computer intelligence in more detail.
Note:
This button will completely sort all teams,
overriding the "lock" checkboxes on the Lineup,
Defense and Bullpen
Dialogs. |
Equalize Prices
Resets ticket and
concession prices for all teams to average levels.
Equalize Team Expenses
Resets (to an "average"
level) all budget levels controlled by the Expenses
Dialog: Loyalty, Farm System and Medical Staff.
Note that Team Grades are affected over time by
expenditure levels. Resetting team expenses will not
cause an immediate equalization of all expense-related
ratings.
Equalize Team Grades
Resets (to an "average"
level) all team ratings linked to the Expenses
Dialog: Loyalty, Farm System and Medical Staff.
Skin Color Tool
Opens the "Skin Color
Tool", used to crowdsource skin colors for existing
players. After opening the tool, rate the tone of each
player's skin from 1-9; stop at anytime. To contribute
your ratings to our database, choose "Open Baseball
Mogul Folder" on the Help Menu. Find the file called
"skincolors.csv" and email it to support@sportsmogul.com.
Export Roster File /
Import Roster File
Before you can 'Input
Rosters', you must first create a rosters.txt file by
selecting 'Output Rosters'. This will create a file
named rosters.txt in the 'Output' directory of
Baseball Mogul. This file will list the names of all the
players in the game file you are using.
Edit this file, by cutting
and pasting player names to the team you'd like them to
be on. Move this file to Baseball Mogul's 'Input'
directory. Then choose 'Input Rosters' from the Advanced
Tools Dialog and the players will be moved to the teams
they were listed under in the file.
Note: The 'Roster File'
feature is meant to help you move players between teams.
It is NOT meant to be used to CHANGE player names. If
you wish to change the player names, you must either use
the Player Editor, or download a database from the Baseball
Mogul Forums.
Export Player Ratings /
Import Player Ratings
'Export Player Ratings'
will create four comma-delimited text files containing
player ratings for all active players (where [YYYY] is
the current year):
Batter-Ratings-All-[YYYY].csv
Pitcher-Ratings-All-[YYYY].csv
Batter-Ratings-Roster-[YYYY].csv
Pitcher-Ratings-Roster-[YYYY].csv
'Import Player Ratings'
will import ratings from the above files (if they
exist).
Export Pitch Ratings /
Import Pitch Ratings
'Export Pitch Ratings' will
output each pitcher's pitcher arsenal and relative
ratings to a comma-delimited text file called
"PitchRatings.csv" in the "Output" folder.
'Import Pitch Ratings' will
import pitch ratings from "PitchRatings.csv" in the
"Player" sub-folder of the game's "Input" folder.
Export / Import Cities
Export Cities creates a
file called 'cities.txt' in your Baseball Mogul folder
that contains all city data in the active game file.
This data is stored as follows:
City Name, City Population, Region Population, Annual
Population Growth, Income, Altitude, Longitude (x1000),
Latitude (x1000), Time Zone (0=Pacific), Fan Base
Modifier, NOT USED
For example:
Albany,104960,875000,1680,26155,275,73000000,42000000,3,0,0
To edit this data in the
active game file, click 'Export Cities', then edit
'cities.txt', then click 'Import Cities'.
Export / Import Stadium
Data
Export Stadium Data creates
a file called 'stadiumdata.csv' in the 'Output' folder
inside your Baseball Mogul folder.
This file contains data for
each stadium in the game (one row per team) as follows:
Year, Team, NOT USED, Hits, 2B, 3B, HR, K, DP, Errors,
Righty Power Shift, Righty Average Shift, Capacity, LF,
LCF, CF, RCF, RF, Type, Surface, Infield Quality, Infield
Grass, Visibility, Foul Ground Size, NOT USED, NOT USED,
Year Opened, Construction Cost, Convenience, Comfort,
Sight Lines
- Hits, 2B, 3B, HR, K and
DP represent the percent of those events that occur in
this stadium compared to an average stadium. For
example, '110' in the HR column indicates that home
runs occur 10% more often than normal in that stadium.
- Righty Power Shift and
Righty Average Shift are bonuses (or penalties) that
accrue to right-handed hitters as compared to
left-handed hitters in that stadium.
- Type: 0 = Open; 1 =
Dome; 2 = Convertible
- Surface: 0 = Grass; 1 =
Artificial Turf
- Infield
Quality, Infield Grass, Visibility and Foul Ground
Size are ranked from 0 (lowest) to 4 (highest).
- Convenience,
Comfort and Sight Lines are ranked from 700 (lowest)
to 1300 (highest).
For example:
2008,"CLE",0,105,95,105,118,100,100,90,5,0,42865,325,370,405,375,325,0,0,3,2,2,1,0,0,0,0,1100,1200,1200
To edit this data in the
active game file, click 'Export Stadium Data', then edit
the text file, then click 'Import Stadium Data'.
Export Year-By-Year
Stats / Import Year-By-Year Stats
'Export Year-By-Year Stats'
will output all year-by-year stats to a comma-delimited
text file called "YBY.csv".
'Import Year-By-Year Stats'
will import year-by-year statistics from the same file.
Fill Amateur Draft
Erases all current players
in the Amateur Draft pool and generates a new draft pool
(about 225 players for a 32-team league). For historical
seasons, this will load historical rookies. For
fictional (future) seasons, this will randomly generate
a pool of draftable players.
Output Player Cards
Generates document files
containing player cards for use in popular card-based
baseball board games.
Download Team
Logos
Searches the internet for
team logos and saves them to the 'Downloads' folder
inside Baseball Mogul's 'Logos' folder. With a normal
internet connection, this process should take less
than a minute. When displaying team logos, Baseball
Mogul will first try to display a logo from the
'Downloads' folder before loading a file from the main
'Logos' folder.
Download Player
Photos
Searches
the internet for player photos matching active and
retired players in the current game database, and
saves them to the 'Downloads' folder inside Baseball
Mogul's 'Photos' folder. This usually takes about 5-10
minutes. When displaying the Scouting Report, Baseball
Mogul will check the 'Downloads' folder for a player
portrait before checking the 'Portraits' folder. When
displaying Headlines or Leaders, Baseball Mogul only
loads a photo from 'Downloads' folder if there is no
photo for that player in the 'Action' folder.
